My Corporal Punishment Argument :)

The Dictionary Definition of ‘ Corporal Punishment ‘ is “ Punishment by being whipped or beaten “ My view on Corporal Punishment is that it is unnecessary, there are better ways to shape a child’s behaviour, than beating them! There are other ways such as benching, strikes, the principal, writing lines and giving out time. Punishment is okay, but not a physical beating!

Here is a real life Corporal Punishment situation...

At Sunny Side School, One dyslexic girl was asked to read out loud what was on the black board. She couldn’t, she read it completely backwards! Mr. MackaBee was furious, what he did not understand was that this girl was dyslexic and she couldn’t read much. Mr. MackaBee shouted  “OUT TO THE CORRIDOR“ She ran out, Mr. MackaBee whacked her hand harder than ever before! She was terrified, but knew that the situation could not be helped.

I believe that this behavior from classroom teachers is UN-EXPECTABLE , it is okay for children to be punished, but physically abused. In this case Corporal Punishment did not work because this girl’s behavior became worse and what’s worse is that it became funny to everyone in the class room and to all her friends.

Corporal Punishment is not expectable. Imagine yourself being 5 again, life is good all the writing planning is all set out for you or your maths test that  the teacher calls out every maths session are already out for you. But today your teacher is angry, but your friend doesn’t know this and he/she is so sure of the answer and the teacher picks them, they try and answer the question, but it is incorrect. “ COME HERE! “ You hear your teacher say...
Then the SMACK SMACK SMACK... You think to yourself this must be okay? My teacher is doing it? Why can’t I? This is sad to think that little children are exposed to this at such a young age. This needs to stop!

Corporal Punishment should not be allowed in New Zealand, because it is cruel and against human rights! Hopefully, this argument persuaded you that Corporal Punishment is wrong and should never come back to New Zealand.
